Former Deep Purple guitar legend Ritchie Blackmore has married Candice Night, his girlfriend and partner of the last 13 years.
The Blackmore's married at the Castle on the Hudson in New York.
It is the forth marriage for the 63 year old guitarist. In a comment at his website, Blackmore says, "This is the 1st wedding I've been to where I'm not looking for the exit sign."
Ritchie and Candice record together as Blackmore's Night. The music is described as Folk rock or Neo-medieval, a far cry from the garage band sounds Blackmore created with Deep Purple.
Blackmore's best known riff is the guitar sound of 'Smoke On The Water'.
Candice met Ritchie at a football match in 1990. When he left Deep Purple in 1993, he recorded the album 'Stranger In Us All'. Candice sang on some of the tracks.
In 1997, Ritchie and Candice released their first album 'Shadow of the Moon' under the name Blackmore's Night. The name was not only a clever play on their surnames, it also indicated back to an old Deep Purple song 'Black Night'.
