The 45-year-old actor was so surprised at Zach’s scruffy appearance he assumed he was a crazed fan and didn’t recognise him when he said the pair would be working on the comedy movie ‘Due Date’ together.
Speaking on the red carpet at the European premiere of ‘Due Date’ at The Empire Leicester Square last night (03.11.10), Robert’s wife Susan told BANG Showbiz: “It was on Main Street in Venice Beach and he comes up – the problem with Robert is he doesn’t recognise anyone’s face – so I recognised him, and I’m like, ‘This is not going to go well,’ and he comes up and he’s like, ‘We’re doing a movie together,’ and Robert was just ready to, like, just, twok the guy.”
Robert added: “He looked he might have been sleeping in a cardboard box somewhere to me.”
‘The Hangover’ star Zach confessed he wasn’t looking his best when he spoke to Robert, and admits the ‘Iron Man’ actor was “shocked” that a “hobo” was explaining how they would be working together.
He said: “Yeah, unfortunately, I went up to him and the way that I looked I think he was a little shocked that a hobo was telling him the two of us were going to be doing a movie together.”
Also in attendance at the premiere was the movie’s director Todd Phillips and Madonna’s ex-husband, filmmaker Guy Ritchie, whom Robert was so excited to see he jumped on him on his arrival.
