Sure, Robert Pattinson may have chilled with Katy Perry on the set of her 3-D flick, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," but that doesn't mean the "Cosmopolis" stud is all studied up on the candy-coated pop star.
In fact, when he weighed in on the biggest race at the 2012 Video Music Awards, Video of the Year, it was two other equally dazzling ladies who had his vote.
"I love Romain Gavras, who did the M.I.A. video [for 'Bad Girls'], but yeah, I haven't seen Katy's video. That's terrible," he laughed to MTV News last week. "I also ... like Rihanna's ['We Found Love'] video as well. I like whoever directed that; it's cool. It's got, like, good colors. It's pretty."
M.I.A., Perry ("Wide Awake") and Rihanna (the Melina Matsoukas-directed "We Found Love") will face off against Gotye ("Somebody That I Used to Know") and Drake featuring Rihanna ("Take Care") when the show goes live Thursday, September 6. And while M.I.A. and Rih have the "Twilight Saga" star on their sides, it's basically anyone's Moonman until all the hottest A-listers in the game — including host Kevin Hart — hit up Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Rihanna goes into this year's VMAs as the most-nominated woman, with five nods. In addition to Video of the Year, she's also up for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Choreography and Best Visual Effects. Drake matches Rihanna with five nominations of his own. RPattz's pal Katy is not far behind with four nods. M.I.A. has three nods, and Gotye has two.
The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Head to VMA.MTV.com now through August 24 to vote for your favorites, or text BNA to 22444 to vote for Best New Artist all the way through the show!
