The Twilight star says his love of booze is making it difficult to bulk up for his role in new flick Cosmopolis.
The 24-year-old actor has signed up to play the lead role in David Cronenberg’s big-screen adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel.
But he has less than two months to transform himself into a “masters-of-the-universe type”.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “I have to change my body shape quite a bit. I’m playing one of those masters-of-the-universe types and I have to have about six per cent body fat… which means I need to lose about 70 per cent.”
He added: “If I could just cut out beer, that’s my one thing.”
The London-born star has recently finished filming Water For Elephants alongside Reese Witherspoon, in which he plays a veterinary school drop-out who joins a travelling circus after his parents die.
And he revealed that he loved making the film – which is due to be released next month – because it meant he could finally get rid of the make-up and contact lenses he was forced to wear for the Twilight movies.
He said: “Water For Elephants was a relief because, for one thing, I didn’t have to wear all that make-up and those contacts… My God, I’ll be glad to see the last of those.”
He added: “I actually want to get some kind of plastic explosive. I want to re-animate them into something, so I can kill them.”
