Robert Pattinson reveals he got into acting in bid to meet girls

The 25-year-old has become a heartthrob since taking on the role of vampire Edward Cullen.

In a new interview on The Late Show with David Letterman, Pattinson was asked why he got into acting.

He said: 'I wanted to meet girls! That was the main thing.'

Pattinson also spoke about his fans and said they are of all ages.

He said: 'It's not just teenage girls. It's older [women] too. The older ones are far more passionate fans.

'It's funny how the whole genre has changed since Twilight came out. Now vampires are considered attractive and sexy.'
