The bottom line is that Robert Pattinson has a movie to promote.
Unfortunately for him, his serious role in the twisty David Cronenberg movie "Cosmopolis" must be chatted about just weeks after it was revealed that his longtime girlfriend and "Twilight" co-star, Kristen Stewart, cheated on him with the director of "Snow White and the Huntsman."
The good news is that Rob's first interview is booked for Monday night on Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show," a place where actors can expect plenty of yucks in between somewhat-hard-hitting questions. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Pattinson will sit down with the funnyman on the same night as the movie's premier in New York for what will be his first televised interview since the scandal broke.
That sit-down will trump what was already being billed as his first talk since Stewart apologized for her indiscretion, an August 15 appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America."
Pattinson has stayed off the radar since Stewart released a statement on July 25 admitting an affair with married "Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders and has not spoken about the affair in public so far.
In her statement, Stewart apologized profusely for the affair with the father of two, who is married to actress/model Liberty Ross. "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."
Cronenberg's adaptation of a Don DeLillo novel about a Gatsby-esque billionaire (Eric Packer) whose attempt to get a haircut spins wildly out of control. It largely takes place inside Packer's white stretch limo as it makes its way across Manhattan and he takes stock of his life.
