Robert Pattinson Would Vote Not To Vote On Election Day

What do "Twilight" and Election Day have in common? Not a lot on the surface for the common voter, but for actor Robert Pattinson, there's this: President Barack Obama's 2008 victory took place just as Pattinson was beginning his press tour for the globally worshiped vampire saga.

"When Obama won last time, I was doing press for the first 'Twilight,'" Pattinson said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday (November 5). "I didn't know what was going on. Everyone was screaming on the streets of New York."

Of course, the British actor was not eligible to vote in the previous election, nor is he eligible now. And that suits Pattinson just fine. "I don't like any kind of responsibility," he said. "I would vote for people like me to not be able to vote."

Kimmel quipped that if Obama wins his reelection campaign, it would be a sign that the "Twilight" franchise isn't really over. "I hope," Pattinson said with a smile when asked if he thought there might be a future past "Breaking Dawn - Part 2."

But based on Kristen Stewart's appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, it sounds like "Twilight" is very much drawing to a definitive close. The erstwhile Bella Swan spoke about the greatly anticipated "twist" built into the "Breaking Dawn" film adaptation, one that's designed to throw a curveball at fans while still honoring what's in the books.

"If you read the book, we're not straying too far from it," she teased. "It's easy to skim over, but you can find the root of our little twist."

But the biggest twist of all, for Stewart at least, is her character's transformation from mortal human to immortal vampire, as seen at the tail end of the first "Breaking Dawn." Stewart and The Tonight Show debuted a new clip from "Breaking Dawn Part 2" that sees Bella trying to relearn the rules of acting human. It's not an easy fit for the character, nor was it an easy fit for the actress, who admitted that the process of turning into a vampire was often a painful one, especially where contact lenses were concerned.

"It's definitely a dim, tunnel vision, sticky, cloudy, awfully annoying [feeling]," she described of putting on her vampire-lenses. "People generally say that our vampires look like they're in pain... well, they are!"
