Bee Gees star Robin Gibb is said to have asked for his band's 1977 hit 'How Deep Is Your Love' to be played at his funeral, according to reports in today's tabloids.
The Sun newspaper claims that the tragic disco star, who died on Sunday 20 May, 2012, asked for the track to be played before his death from cancer. The song was a No.1 hit for the Bee Gees in 1997 and later a chart topper in the UK when Take That covered the hit.
"It's a beautiful song, penned by a beautiful person," said a source to the tabloid. "It couldn't be more appropriate when we all say goodbye."
Gibb died after a long battle with colon cancer last weekend. His family asked for privacy following his death, saying in a statement: "The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery."
