The Scottish rocker was appearing on US TV chat show The View, with wife Penny Lancaster sitting in the audience, when he was asked if they had chosen a name for their unborn child.
"Can I tell?" Stewart asked his wife, before revealing with her permission that they had chosen the name Aidan.
The singer said his eighth child is due "at the end of February" and, asked about their experience using IVF to conceive, admitted: "It was heartbreaking a couple of times where we thought we were close and we failed."
But he cheekily added: "But the bit I always enjoyed was getting the sperm in the bottle and getting in the Ferrari and taking it down the hospital.
"And, also I had to give my wife injections in the bottom at six o'clock every night – oh I did enjoy that," he said, mimicking giving one of the injections.
Asked about the age difference between him and Lancaster, he insisted: "The older the two of you get [it] seems to balance out."
And he also insisted that he will be able to keep up with a young son..
"I'm a very fit 65-year-old and I intend to be a very fit 85-year-old," he said proudly.
