Britain's 6th Annual Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards were held Wednesday night at the Roundhouse in London with awards going to artists as diverse as Rush, Journey and Imelda May.
Hosted by Alice Cooper, the ceremony included numerous performance along with the presentation of six fan-voted awards and a host of honors selected by the editors of Classic Rock magazine. Rush became the first group to win the Living Legend Award. Album of the Year was awarded to Slash while the Reissue of the Year was the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street.
The Event of the Year saluted Journey's classic 1981 hit Don't Stop Believin' which went back into the British top ten on the strength of the exposure it received on the hit TV show Glee.
Wendy Dio, the widow of Ronnie James Dio, was on hand to accept her late-husband's Tommy Vance Inspiration award.
Scott Rowley, Editor-in-Chief of Classic Rock magazine, said "This year's award winners include two bands that had a No.1 album in 2010 (The Rolling Stones and AC/DC), a band with one of the most downloaded songs in history (Journey), and a band who just completed the second-highest grossing concert tour in music history (AC/DC again) ' all proof that rock music is still the most exciting genre in music."
