Fans and media are speculating that the Rolling Stones may be one of the headliners at this year's Cocahella Festival in Indio, CA.
The rumor started back in mid-December when a date was posted on the band's mobile app showing an appearance on April 12 in Indio which just happened to coincide with the first of the festival's two weekends. The notice was taken down a couple of hours later.
Then came the above picture on the festival's Facebook page.
Included was the message "Happy New Years! We're excited, hope you are too!"
The world jumped on the photo speculating that it is a round rock or a Rolling Stone (although a representative for the festival told Rolling Stone magazine that it was actually a polo ball).
The problem with the date post on the app is that the promoters of Coachella have adamantly insisted that any artist that signs for the festival must play both weekends. The Rolling Stones "slip" only listed one. At that time, Jagger told Rolling Stone that he knew nothing about the appearance and that the band hadn't been approached by the festival organizers but, then, all the members of the Stones were confirming and denying their November and December shows right up to the date they were officially announced.
This year, the Coachella Festival will be held on April 12 to 14 and April 19 to 21. Line-ups are expected later this month.
