Rufus Wainwright has reportedly made an unusual wedding gift request.
The singer is set to marry partner Jörn Weisbrodt in Montauk, New York, on Thursday. He has apparently asked guests to make a cash donation to help pay for the couple's new motorhome.
"According to an insider, instead of traditional wedding gifts, the couple asked for money in lieu of physical presents in order to pay off the 25-foot Airstream, a sleek aluminium travel trailer the couple has recently ordered but has not yet had delivered," reports the New York Daily News. "A new Airstream can run anywhere from $55,000 to well over $75,000, depending on how much customisation is required."
Rufus and Jörn sent out video invites, featuring a clip created by theatre producer Jörn, with details of their big day in February this year.
Further quirky details of the nuptials have been revealed, including Rufus' plan to take a dip in the ocean after the ceremony is completed.
The star and his partner will marry on Montauk's East End Beach and have reportedly asked guests to join them for a swim.
Perhaps in keeping with the unusual idea, the dress code is described as "very casual".
It is believed that Rufus and Jörn will hold a wedding dinner at Clam Bar in Hampton's community Amagansett, with an after-party set to be held at Shagwong Restaurant in nearby Montauk.
