Rufus Wainwright married fiancé Jörn Weisbrodt at his home in Montauk, New York, yesterday.
The singer-songwriter exchanged vows with his theatre producer partner in front of 250 guests, the New York Post reports.
The star-studded crowd of well-wishers included John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono, Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, producer Mark Ronson and rocker Lou Reed amongst others.
In the lead-up to the nuptials, it had been claimed that Wainwright was planning a beach ceremony followed by a dip in the ocean, although it is not clear whether this actually happened.
The happy couple celebrated their union with a wedding dinner at the Clam Bar in nearby Napeague, where the party dined on local steamers and cherry tomatoes, lobster rolls and clam chowder.
Each guest was reportedly given a wedding favour of local plum jam, the jar inscribed with "Rufus + Jörn's Hochzeit [German for wedding]".
Actor Irving Benson and performance artist Marina Abramovic regaled the newlyweds and their guests with speeches.
It was previously reported that the pair had asked guests to make cash donations instead of giving traditional wedding gifts.
"The couple asked for money in lieu of physical presents in order to pay off the 25-foot Airstream, a sleek aluminium travel trailer the couple has recently ordered but has not yet had delivered," reported the New York Daily News.
