Sometime in the next two weeks, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will announce their five inductees for 2013.
In a new twist, the public gets one vote in the selection process to go along with the approximately 300 other industry people who are also voting. This is being done through a poll on the Hall of Fame's site where you can select your five choices from the 15 nominees.
Voting closes on Monday for the poll and, based on the current results, the public has deemed Rush, Deep Purple, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Albert King as the five acts that get their vote.
That leaves ten other out in the cold, as far as the general public is concerned. Those acts, in their current place in the vote:
•Kraftwerk
•Public Enemy
•Donna Summer
•Procol Harum
•N.W.A.
•Randy Newman
•Paul Butterfield Blues Band
•Meters
•Marvelettes
•Chic
There's no guarantee that the five public selected acts will actually make the hall (and what's up with all the dislike of Chic?). We'll have to wait for the official announcement in the next two weeks.
