Russell Brand has paid tribute to his friend Amy Winehouse, who died last weekend.
In an online eulogy, the British comedian described the late singer as a “f*cking genius”.
Brand, a former drug addict, also spoke at length about the struggle of overcoming addiction and the impossibility of intervention.
“Not all of us know someone with the incredible talent that Amy had but we all know drunks and junkies and they all need help and the help is out there,” Brand wrote.
“All they have to do is pick up the phone and make the call. Or not. Either way, there will be a phone call.”
Stars from the celebrity and music world have been paying tribute to Winehouse, who was found dead at her flat in London on Saturday (July 23).
