The Brit has undergone an amazing transformation from edgy comedian to US showbiz mainstream player following the toning-down of his haircut, a number of Hollywood movies and marriage to a pop star.
But now he has made potentially his most controversial move yet, starring in a new series of bland adverts for computing giant HP.
He uses his well-known screen charisma, funny faces and comical eloquence in the series of 25-second spots for the TouchPad.
But the adverts see his usual brand of raunchy, no-holds-barred humour replaced with some family-friendly comedy.
While sat in a sofa in a fancy lounge, to classical music in the background, he talks to the camera while playing with the device to highlight the different qualities of the product and how they help his life.
In one of the adverts, he likens his device to his 'little robot butler', saying that the touchscreen allows him to get things done with 'one swipe, one flick'.
He then adds: 'As a child I thought that was a way of dealing with boogers - now I know it's a way of dealing with robot butlers.'
While talking about how it can be used to read books, he even manages to promote his My Booky Wooky 2 memoirs.
