The British comedian, who tied the knot with Katy Perry in India last month, joked that the wedding is simply a formality so the royals can expand the family.
Appearing on the Conan O’Brian show last night, he quipped, 'The aristocracy are planning to clatter their genitals at each other, but first they swap expensive jewels. It is a custom. Then there will be a new king.'
The 35-year-old added that he still has quite mixed views when it comes to the royal family.
'I think that's quite nice to have a monarchy – because I like those shiny hats they wear. I also enjoy elaborate furniture – thrones and whatnot.
'But hierarchical structures, which accentuate privilege and oppress people, I'm not so into. But then when I do meet royals, I get all giddy.'
