Russell Brand gushes about married life

In an appearance on US chat show Lopez Tonight, the 35-year-old opened up about his married life with pop star Katy Perry, claiming these days he only shows his wild side through his work.

A clean shaved Russ told host George Lopez: 'I had to shave because I am in that Hop, that's a children's film and Arthur, that's a film where I have to be quite sweet.'

Speaking about his new hair cut, the actor added: 'I have tried to clean up, I think this is because I am now a married man and have an obligation to be more sensible.'

But then Brand went on to show off his man-cleavage.

Talking about how him and Perry, 26, keep in contact when they are busy with work, he said: 'Phone, Internet, charisma. Also we see each other quite often, I try not to go without her for too long because I miss her otherwise, about a week or something I have to see her.

'There are ways to communicate, I know where this is heading and I have had my computer laminated.'

He added: 'I'm a married man, I have three cats, I have to look after them, I'm quiet with my wife... I am quite a sweet and domestic type of man, the wildness I just express through my work.'

But despite pledging his allegiance to America on the show, he said he won't be quitting the UK for the US any time soon.

He said: 'I am now married to an American but I'm not planning to give up my Englishness. I love the people of America but I am very proud of being English.'

Russell also explained the unbelievable present he received from his wife - a trip to space.

The funnyman said: 'Katy bought me a trip to space for my birthday and I said well you are coming then... We're going be in space, that just doesn't seem right coming from my background and now it seems odd, ten years ago I was a junkie, if I wanted to go to space I would have to do crack.'

He ended the interview wearing a Darth Vader voice-changing helmet, admitting: 'I would like one day to become a father.'
