At yesterday's Cosmopolitan Magazine 2011 Fun Fearless Male Awards in New York City, the 35-year-old told reporters: 'I love Charlie Sheen, he is a good bloke.'
Brand, who was being honoured at the event as the fun fearless male of the year, added that he believed the rumour that Sheen wanted to crash his recent Saturday Night Live appearance to be true.
Troubled star Charlie could possibly use someone like Russell's support at the moment after being fired officially from his job on US sitcom Two and Half Men yesterday.
Charlie, 45, recently told British newspaper The Sun, that Brand was a 'mad genius'.
