The Get Him To The Greek Star is said to have made a generous donation after being moved to tears during a memorial service for the 1989 tragedy earlier this year.
The 35-year-old funny man made the gift to an organization helps families of the 96 Liverpool fans who were killed in a horrific crush during an FA Cup semi-final.
The group's chairwoman Margaret Aspinall, whose son James died in the disaster, was shocked by Brand's contribution.
"It really came out of the blue. He sent me a letter, which was lovely, and said he would like to meet me. He mentioned the group on a radio interview and said he had watched me speak and it was very moving," she told the Daily Express.
"He said he loves Liverpool and thinks the work we are doing is very good. I will not disclose how much he gave us, but it was a generous donation."
