Speaking on US TV programme Late Show With David Letterman Gosling pointed out each of the members in the old promo picture: Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Nikki Deloach Ryan Gosling and Tj Fantini.
'Wow,' said Letterman. 'How did you even get in that?' He asked.
'I auditioned,' said Gosling, 30.
'All the girls in my class were auditioning so I did too and somehow I got on and then when they hired me they realised that I couldn't really dance or sing and I wasn't talented so they stopped using me on the show,' added the Canadian star with a grin. Gosling went on to tell Letterman that he thinks New York City is full of beautiful women.
'Some of the prettiest women I have ever seen in my life live here, also because it's so hot they appear to you like some kind of mirage and they are all screaming into their cell phones,' he said. 'I passed by a girl the other day and she was saying 'I know, I know, I should have just given him a cigarette for a banana and I could be in Dubai right now'.'
