Gosling, 30, is said to be negotiating a role in the film by director Nicolas Winding Refn, who he worked with on movie Drive.
The film is a revenge story about a Thai cop and a British gangster hiding in Thailand, according to Variety.
The movie is set in a world of gambling, boxing and prostitution in Bangkok.
Luke Evans was originally rumoured for the role and was said to be in advanced negotiations but he was forced to pull out because the scheduling conflicts with his role in The Hobbit.
The movie reportedly starts shooting in November and will be released in cinemas in 2012.
