Sex Pistols Debut at St. Martins - 30th Anniversary Party
Remember Remember ~ 6 November
1975/2005 "They were very loud, extremely unpleasant.. I mean, you couldn't ignore them."
On November 6, 1975, a group of 4 street punks who had been rehearsing in Tin Pan Alley marched their way across the Charing Cross Road and into St Martins College. Lugging their equipment with them, they proceeded to clamber onstage and play until about 20 minutes in, the promoter pulled the plug.
On the same bill were 'Bazooka Joe' featuring Stuart Goddard. They were similarly affected by the performance, so much so they split and Stuart Goddard would later become Adam Ant.
This was the first time the Sex Pistols ever performed live on a London stage. On November 6, 2005, Central Saint Martins marks this momentous occasion in music history with another legendary evening of live music from the capital. Central Saint Martins has a rich history of nurturing young and vibrant musical talent and many alumni have gone on to achieve enormous success and acclaim in the Music Industry.
From Sade to Pulp's Jarvis Cocker, Billy Childish to Fred Deakin of Lemon Jelly, Paul Simonon of the Clash, Shane McGowan of the Pogues, and more recently Tom Vek and Mercury Award Nominated M.I.A.
