Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings to release Christmas album

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings have a Christmas album on the way.

Sharon will release their first holiday album, It's a Holiday Soul Party, on Daptone Records featuring a mix of traditional holiday songs and originals.

Jones talked with Billboard, telling them "It's so great to put out a holiday record after almost twenty years, and it is thrilling to share a Hanukkah soul song. I was able to portray my gospel upbringing on the piano, and the Dap-Kings added their soulful flavor to old classics and a few original songs."

In addition, the documentary Miss Sharon Jones! will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, September 11.
