Green Man Festival 2014 continued into its second day yesterday (16 August), with incredible performances from Sharon Van Etten, The War on Drugs and countless others.
Celebrating the final night of an extensive European tour, the Are We There singer brought both intimacy and vigour to her sunset slot on The Mountain Stage, playing predominantly off her acclaimed fourth album, completely justifying the hype that surrounded it. The end of Etten's set also saw a surprise appearance from Hamilton Leithauser, who had performed earlier in the day for a duet of 'Every Time The Sun Comes Up'.
Following that, The War On Drugs played to a huge crowd before Mercury Rev, the former's stunning third record Lost In The Dream sounding even more gargantuan in a live environment, cementing it's place as one of the finest albums of 2014 so far.
Across the intimate festival site, the picturesque Walled Garden Stage saw a visceral headline slot from East India Youth, whilst Slint topped the bill in the Far Out Tent. Throughout the day festivalgoers were also treated to the most promising new music the world has to offer, from the post-punk intensity of Ought to the introspective calculation of Women's Hour via a typically clothes-less set from Fat White Family.
