The country singer said that she is so inspired by her adopted sons that she even takes them on the road with her.
She told Parade.com, 'It's great. It's just fun for me to have them around all the time. They are the people I love most and they're teaching me every day what life really is all about.'
Talking about the changes to her song writing that have come from being a mother, she explained, 'I think it has given me a different outlook on life and your life tends to inform your art. I get a lot less sleep, I can tell you that, so I can pull from my lack of sleep for some very inspired song writing!'
The 49-year-old also revealed that if she hadn't made a career for herself in music, she would have liked to have been a vet.
'I would love to be a vet if I weren't doing music,' she said. 'I love animals and always have. I have a farm full of horses and the vet is there all the time and I wish I knew as much as he knows.'
