Sir Elton John has delivered one of his most political targeted comments in years accusing the Bush Administration of 'bullying tactics'.
The volatile superstar who is in New York for a concert tour has told New York Magazine that American artists are too scared to speak out about this administration.
He used the example of the backlash against Dixie Chicks who were ridiculed for speaking their mind against Bush but when country act Toby Keith makes a statement for Bush he is applauded.
Elton told New York magazine that stars are "frightened by the current administration's bullying tactics".
"There was a moment about a year ago when you couldn't say a word about anything in this country for fear of your career being shot down by people saying you are un-American" he said.
Sir Elton John is one of the few acts speaking up from the classic rock demographic. Bands like Green Day, Pearl Jam, Good Charlotte and NoFx have been outspoken about the Bush regime via the active Rock Against Bush campaign.
