Slaughterhouse Say 'It's Time' For Album #3

It can't be easy balancing a solo career and a role in a high-powered rap group, but Joe Budden embraces it all. In February, the Jersey City MC dropped his No Love Lost solo LP, and now he's ready to reconnect with Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5'9" to record their third Slaughterhouse LP.

"We're locking in this month. It's time," Budden said when he appeared on "RapFix Live" on Wednesday.

Budden has been balancing rap with his role on the VH1 reality series "Love & Hip Hop: New York" and says that these days he feels like a brand-new artist despite dropping his first LP back in 2003. "I feel like a new artist, I'm that passionate about the craft and the culture," he said.

After linking up with Joell, Crook and Royce in late 2008, Slaughterhouse released their self-titled debut album independently in 2009. The group eventually caught the attention of Eminem, who signed the quad to his Shady Records. Last summer the group released Welcome to: Our House off the strength of their Cee Lo Green-assisted single "My Life," the street banger "Hammer Dance" and "Throw It Away" with Swizz Beatz.

Though they are now situated on a major label, Slaughterhouse is celebrated not for their hit-making ability, but their lyrical dexterity. "I feel like the people expect the highest level of lyricism from us, but at times I feel like they don't want us to be happy," Royce told "RapFix Live" last August. "They don't want us to sell records; they just want us to rap better than everybody."
