Snoop Lion's 4/20 party was shut down by police.
TMZ reports that the 'Snoop Lion 420 Festival' was planned at the star's Hollywood Hills mansion to mark 'cannabis day.'
The bash began at 11am on Saturday but ended after complaints from Snoop's neighbours.
Law enforcement sources told the website that multiple neighbours in the area complained about the "noise levels and parking situation" caused by partygoers.
Snoop had not yet arrived at the bash which was set to go on all night.
The 41-year-old rapper tweeted his followers on Saturday to mark the day which has a growing following in North America.
"Bout to be #Snoop420," he wrote. "Who's celebratin' wit me (sic). The happy holidays."
Snoop recently changed his moniker from 'Lion' to 'Dogg,' after claiming he had been rechristened by a Rastafarian priest.
Last year, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he would like the drug to be legalised in the U.S.
"There would be less high-speed chases, less robberies, less crime," he said. "Go to Amsterdam or the Netherlands, where it is legal, and you see that the crime rate is nonexistent, the murder rate is probably under 10 percent, people learn to get along!
"There are people riding on bicycles being happy and it's because of the environment that's provided by the legalisation of marijuana."
