Snow Patrol star Tom Simpson looks set to escape prosecution for alleged cocaine possession.
The band's keyboard player was due to appear in court in Glasgow yesterday, following his arrest this summer, but the case was not called.
Legal experts are now speculating that the case of possession of Class A drugs will be dropped against Simpson, who was charged in July.
Speaking to the BBC, lawyer Alistair Bonnington suggested the defence may have struck a deal with the court, meaning no further action will be necessary.
"When a case is 'not called', that simply means that in the mean time the case is not proceeding", he explained.
"The Crown can re-raise it, but if nothing else happens, if the Crown doesn't bring it back to court on a separate occasion, then the case is at an end."
