Snow Patrol frontman struggled with last album

GARY LIGHTBODY has admitted that Snow Patrol's last album was his most challenging one yet.

The band's frontman said he found it hard to focus on the good points of relationships when he penned A Hundred Million Suns, the group's fifth studio disc, released in October last year.

He said: "There were so many lines with big penstrokes through in my notebook.

"On previous records, I focused on what I did wrong, or what went wrong, rather than all the wonderful things that go into creating a relationship in the first place. So this time round I had to force myself to create something about being in love that didn't resort to cliché.

"It wasn't as natural for me but all the things that happen on the album have happened to me so it's certainly honest."

He also confirmed that the band will continue to work with producer Garret 'Jackknife' Lee following their successful collaborations on their past three albums.

He said: "Gary feels like a brother and we were his first band. We will always have a unique relationship so there's no point in working with anyone else."
