"I have a severe problem with the past," Gary Lightbody said.

The Snow Patrol frontman â€" a history major and self-proclaimed "hopeless romantic" â€" has some baggage when it comes to relationships.

"I've always ruined the situation [with], 'It's not you, it's me.' My guilt overwhelms me," he said. "That's why I write songs about it. But these songs are not written apologies, because most of the girls I split up with, I am still friends with."
