Sophie Ellis Bextor to wed

Sophie Ellis Bextor is to marry boyfriend Richard Jones after the romantic session guitarist got down on one knee to pop the question.

Sophie plans to put her career on the back burner her so they can have a huge family.

A pal of the couple told me: "It's great news and they are really happy. They can't wait to tell everyone. They haven't set an exact date but they are looking at next summer.

"It will be a big ceremony with all their close friends and family invited.

"Everyone is very happy for them and can't wait to have a drink to celebrate."

Recently Sophie has been concentrating on bringing up six-month-old Sonny after difficult times.

He was born two months early by emergency caesarean section after Sophie went for a routine hospital check-up and was found to have the lifethreatening condition pre-eclampsia.

Then last month Sonny was rushed to hospital with meningitis.

Sophie and Richard kept a five-day vigil by the baby's bed while he recovered.

The pair met last year when Richard was playing in Sophie's band during a tour.
