Guitarist Kim Thayil says it's almost inevitable that Soundgarden will write new music.
Speaking to Toronto radio station CFNY-FM, Thayil spoke about the new Best Of and their reunion, then noted that the classic grunge act will be writing new music.
Blabbermouth reported that he said, 'When we get together to rehearse, it's natural for us, being guys who have a rapport, to start jamming and inventing. We've come up with instrumental, and certainly on occasion, lyrical ideas.'
Thayil was fairly coniditonal, but he seems to think that the band will inevitably record.
''m not confirming anything,' he continued, 'but it's impossible for us to get in a room and not come up with ideas. It's very likely in the future, perhaps sooner than later, we'll get together and de-emphasise the rehearsing part and emphasise the jamming part."
Any new material would be the first for the band for 15 years, since their final album Down On the Upside.
