The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have refuted suggestions that the long-running show is coming to an end.
Fans had been speculating that the comedy's mid-season finale You're Getting Old, with its dark and cynical tone, was a sign from the writers that the show was beginning to prepare people for its conclusion.
However, Parker insisted that he and Stone have yet to grow tired of the series.
Speaking on the Daily Show with John Stewart, he said: "We love South Park, that's still our thing."
Parker admitted the episode was a way of showing "things we were feeling," but still described making it as "fun."
He explained: "We did it by the seat of our pants. Obviously it had a lot of themes and things we were feeling in it, but we came back and people were like, 'Are you okay? Is the show coming back?' and we were like, 'Yeah'."
First airing in 1997, South Park is now into its 15th season.
