It appears Susan Boyle will lose the nail-biting race for biggest selling album of 2009 to Taylor Swift.
Boyle's 'I Dreamed A Dream' did not sell enough copies in week 5 to put it in from of Swift's total tally and with final figures for the year due any day now, early indications are that Boyle hasn't the momentum to overtake Swift's annual sales figure.
After 5 week 'Fearless' was ahead of 'I Dreamed A Dream' by 3,157,000 to 2,982,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
While the Susan Boyle album will be number one again on the next chart, early figures indicate that it will not sell enough to leap in front.
The end of year result will be a nail-biter.
Billboard reports that the last time an album sold more than 3 million units in one year was back in 2006 when 'High School Musical' did 3.7 million, Rascal Flatts 'Me and My Gang' did 3.5 million, and Carrie Underwood 'Some Hearts' did 3 million.
