'Words for You' - a new album featuring poems to music by some of the UK's favourite thespians including Joanna Lumley, Martin Shaw, and Lyndsay Duncan, has secured top spot on Amazon.co.uk's bestseller chart on pre-orders alone, having been made available on National Poetry Day (Thursday 8 October).
In the pre-order chart, 'Words For You' has stolen the number one crown from Susan Boyle, and it has knocked MUSE's 'Resistance' off the top spot in the overall bestsellers chart.
"Since 'Words for You' became available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk yesterday we have seen a huge amount of interest for this album of poems. It certainly the first time that poetry has topped our music charts," comments Julian Monaghan, head of music buying at Amazon.co.uk Ltd. "The pre-release of the album coincided with National Poetry Day which has certainly helped boost awareness and sales, but we didn't expect it to overtake Susan Boyle or Muse at the very top of the charts.'
