SYSTEM OF A DOWN star has successfully bid for a copy of the first ever Superman comic.
Drummer John Dolmayan paid $317,200 (£226,571) for the 1938 edition of Action Comics No 1, the first comic to feature Clark Kent and his heroic alter ego.
Dolmayan, who is also a collector and a dealer of vintage comic books, reportedly bought the inaugural Superman issue, which shows the Man of Steel lifting a car on the cover, for a client.
He and 89 bidders fought for the copy during a two-week online auction on Comic Connect before Dolmayan entered the winning bid on Friday.
The unamned is believed to have hoped for $400,000 (£285,000), the estimates value, but have still made a huge profit, having originally bought the comic for just 35 cents (£0.25)
