For those unfamiliar with the worldwide popularity of the Tintin comics, the news and hype surrounding "The Adventures of Tintin," the film adaptation out this December, could seem overblown. Yes, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson teaming up is always going to be big news, but the teaser trailer released a few months ago left a lot of people scratching their heads, wondering what all the fuss was about.
Well, that should change with the latest trailer to hit the Web. MSN Movies posted a look at a brand-new U.K. trailer for the film, and let's just say it gives us everything that was missing from the teaser. We've broken down the five key scenes from the trailer so you'll know why Tintin should be on your radar this fall.

Tintin Uses a Motorcycle as a Zip Line
Whoever cut the trailer definitely held this bit until the end for a reason. It's a motorcycle crash! Oh, wait, no. He's flying through the air! Nope. He's going to use the handle bars as a zip line. It's the perfect "wow" moment that's sure to hook audiences in, and that was one of the biggest things missing from the much tamer teaser trailer. We really get to see why the motion capture for this movie is something worth talking about and something to revere. What would have looked like a hokey effects shot in a live-action blockbuster is a tight, you-are-there moment that shows off what the technology can really do when used right.
References to Indiana Jones
Speaking of the motorcycle, it looks like Spielberg has snuck in a few references to his own Indiana Jones movies. Tintin always gets compared to everyone's favorite hunky archaeologist, but little touches like the bike and sidecar, which are reminiscent of a similar sequence from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," might point to even more Indy references. Other evidence can be found in some of the punches thrown in the trailer. One of Indy's signatures was his sonic-boom-like punch sound effects, and the blows here are just as noisy.
Pirates Without Zombies (Finally!)
Not only do we get our first substantial look at what the story might be about, but we get some badass pirate and rope-swinging action. From what the trailer reveals, Tintin must find a lost artifact that could change the course of history, and just like Indy again, there's a group of baddies on his tail that want the artifact for all the wrong reasons. The setup may seem familiar, but old-school thrills are the name of the game here.
A Decent Action-Comedy?
Some of the worst movies in recent years came out of the quadrant-hitting action-comedy genre. While studios think giving an audience explosions and laughs is the way to bigger box-office numbers, few films have actually delivered on the promises of excitement, comedy and big returns. With "The Adventures of Tintin," some of Hollywood's best talent is onboard to try to tackle the tightrope walk of the action-comedy. A script by the geek holy trinity of Steven Moffat ("Dr. Who"), Edgar Wright ("Shaun of the Dead") and Joe Cornish ("Attack the Block") does more than enough to ensure at least a few laughs to go with the great action we've seen so far in the trailer.
The Brilliant Andy Serkis
You know when an actor receives Oscar buzz for a movie he wasn't even physically in, you're dealing with some serious talent. Andy Serkis, who's most famous for his motion-capture work as Gollum in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and the upcoming "Hobbit" films, blew audiences away this past summer as Caesar in the surprise hit "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." In "Tintin," Serkis lends his voice and motions to Captain Haddock, the boy reporter's best friend. Serkis is definitely the guy you want on your team if you're going for convincing motion capture, and his work in Tintin looks like his typical, magical best.
