The Black Keys have backed their decicsion to keep their new album off streaming sites, saying it isn't possible for bands to make any money otherwise.
The band refused to allow Spotify to stream their new album El Camino, highlighting concerns many bands have that streaming sites significantly affect their record sales.
Speaking to VH1, drummer Patrick Carney said: [Streaming services] are becoming more popular, but it still isn't at a point where you're able to replace royalties from record sales with the royalties from streams.''
He then added: For a band that makes a living selling music, it's not at a point where it's feasible for us.
Despite this, sites similar to Spotify are hopeful that these fears can be allayed in the future.
MOG spokeswoman Marni Greenberg told the LA Times: "As always, we're just adhering to the requests of the content provider."
A rep for Rdio told Bloomberg: "We're hopeful we'll have the record on our service soon."
