The Boxer Rebellion, The Times' "word of mouth phenomenon of 2009" will be the next act to hit the Samsung Bebo Nights stage - live at the Gibson Guitar Studio! The London based group, made up of American vocalist Nathan Nicholson, Aussie guitarist Todd Howe, and the supremely talented rhythm section, Englishmen Adam Harrison (bass) and Piers Hewitt (drums), started their career when they caught the eye of music mogul Alan McGee who signed the band to his Poptones label and released their debut album EP.
Poptones' later collapse left the band to return to their day jobs but their masterpiece debut album began to live a covert, underground life building an army of devoted fans. Never failing to sell out venues across Europe, the bands live shows - whenever they happened to manifest themselves - soon became the stuff of legend, underpinned always by performances of new songs well before they could ever be recorded.
Over the last 4 years, the band has worked hard to give back to their enduring supporters, and returned to record their second album at London's Fortress Studios in 2006. The Boxer Rebellion, and came out with the aptly-titled and self-produced UNION in 2009 – confident that it would surpass even the vertiginous ambitions of its predecessor.
iTunes US and UK were so blown away by lead track of this long awaited album, they made Evacuate their worldwide Free Single Of The Week on January 13th 2009 - an unprecedented move made even more remarkable given the band were, and remain, unsigned. Finally this preserve of a few, would be bought to the world's attention with no record label backing whatsoever. UNION led the band to become the first unsigned band to reach the top 100 (#88) of the US billboard charts on digital sales alone.
Along the way The Boxer Rebellion have picked up a couple of celebrity fans with their infectious songs, in the form of Simon Pegg and Ewan McGregor who are always keen to sing the bands praises. Now Bebo is offering its users the opportunity to see one of today's best acts in the intimate setting of London's Gibson Guitar Studio on November 17th
