The Darkness pull US shows

The Darkness have pulled out of shows in the US after singer Justin Hawkins lost his voice.

The band are currently on the road in the US, a major tour in support of their debut album 'Permission To Land'.

According to press reports this morning a sore throat has led to the postponement of gigs in Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

A US press release reads: "The Darkness has been forced to cancel their concert tonight in Cleveland due to a throat problem being suffered by lead singer Justin Hawkins. He is currently under a doctor's care, and the band is expected to resume their US tour schedule shortly."

Hawkins added: "I am deeply saddened that we won't be able to play for our fans in Cleveland but we promise to make it up to them just as soon as possible. Cleveland is one of the greatest rock and roll cities in the world, and we are all eagerly looking forward to playing our first gig there. Unfortunately, it is literally impossible for me to sing at the moment, but we will be back. Thank you for your support and understanding."

Last year the band had to pull shows in the UK due to similar problems.
