THE ENEMY said they're not bothered about getting a high chart position.
Frontman Tom Clarke said he doesn't care if the band's forthcoming second album Music For The People fails to match the success of their debut We'll Live And Die In These Towns.
The platinum certified album topped the UK chart on its first week of release in 2007.
He said: "I don't think any band should feel pressured to get a number one nowadays, and unless you're managed by Simon Cowell the chances are pretty slim.
"The charts are pretty much occupied by s**t pop so we don't feel any pressure.
"If you manage to get in that territory and make an impact, then it's really significant. It feels good because it's almost like you've conquered someone else's territory, but if you don't you're like: 'Well, it's full of s**t pop anyway'."
He added: "Chart positions are not really the measure of bands and artists anymore. Nowadays it is their live performances."
Music For The People will be released on April 27.
