On Friday 13th August, the legendary 1970s English supergroup, Faces, will perform at the inaugural Vintage at Goodwood festival at the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, England. The reformed Faces will feature original members Ronnie Wood, Kenney Jones and Ian McLagan, plus Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), and vocals from Mick Hucknall (of Simply Red).
Guitarist Ronnie Wood says: "We got together to receive a PRS Lifetime Achievement award last year and very simply the magic was still there. Playing with the boys again just felt right so we thought well why not? It's exciting to be on this path again and I hope that the Faces fans are excited as we are – I'm just really looking forward to seeing them this summer – bring it on!"
Dubbed 'The Festival of Our Lives', Vintage at Goodwood will take place 13-15 August and will combine the best of British cool from the 1940s – 1980s ranging: music, fashion, art, design and culture across 240 acres on the Goodwood Estate. Co-founded by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway (of Red or Dead) and Lord March, Vintage at Goodwood will be a carefully curated, rather than randomly scheduled programme, which aims to proactively combine music and fashion alongside art and design.
At Vintage at Goodwood, Faces will be featured alongside an inspirational line up of iconic British legends, world renowned DJs and bands spanning 5 decades plus the best new contemporary artists whose work owes a debt to these legends and icons. Faces previously reunited for a handful of gigs where Ronnie Wood and Ian McLagan performed with Rod Stewart at the Hollywood Bowl in 2004. In 2009, Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan, Kenney Jones, plus guest Bill Wyman reunited for a gig at Royal Albert Hall. The band were presented with the prestigious PRS Lifetime Achievement Award following the Royal Albert Hall show on Oct 25, 2009 which also included other special guest vocalists who joined the the Faces that night including Mick Hucknall, Paul Carrack, and Andy Fairweather Low.
Faces will perform hits like 'Stay with me' and 'Ooh La La' on the main 'Inspired By' Stage and will be complemented on-site with five clubs each recreating respective decades with unparalleled authenticity including: The Torch Club (1940s); Let It Rock (1950s); The Leisure Dome (1960s); Soul Casino (1970s); and The Warehouse and Roller Disco (1980s).
