The Futureheads return on May 29 with their second LP ‘News And Tributes' on 679 Recordings. This is preceded by first single, ‘Skip To The End' on May 15.
The chances are that you've already heard this track all over Radio 1 and XFM in recent weeks. That's because they simply can't get enough. With its distinctive riff line (in true AC/DC style), rim tappin' beat keepin' and tambourine shakin' delights, it's catchy and positive, almost funky even, and maybe not what you'd expect from this sometimes frantic, brash, post-punk four piece. How refreshing.
Since their eponymous debut LP the musical ground has shifted radically for The Futurheads and the new landscape is both strange and inviting. ‘Skip To The End', reveals the space the band were seeking - and found - with producer Ben Hillier when recording it back in November last year.
The band enjoyed unending success with their first album over the last couple of years selling in excess of 250.000 copies, but the time has come to move on. ‘Skip To The End' marks a move into the future perfectly. Once the forerunners of a British guitar music movement starting in 2003, The Futureheads look set to lead the way yet again with a new sound for 2006 and are all remarkably still under 25 yrs. How do they do it?!
