Rapper The Game is heading to trial over allegations of threatening and assaulting an off-duty police officer during an altercation earlier this year (15).
The Dreams hitmaker, real name Jayceon Taylor, reportedly punched Onyebuchi Awaji during a pick-up basketball game at Hollywood High School in California in March (15). The rapper suspected the cop had a firearm in his sports bag and maintained he was acting in self-defence.
In June (15), The Game was charged with one felony count of making criminal threats and a misdemeanour assault and battery charge, and on Monday (21Dec15), he returned to a Los Angeles courtroom to plead not guilty to the charges.
The judge ruled there was sufficient evidence for The Game to stand trial, although a start date has yet to be set.
The hip-hop star, who faces up to three years behind bars if convicted, is next due in court on 11 January (16).
