Paz Lenchantin, the former bass player for A Perfect Circle and Billy Corgan's Zwan, is the new bass player for The Pixies.
Lenchantin has replaced Kim Shattuck who replaced Kim Deal. Shuttuck only joined The Pixies in July after the departure of original member Deal in June.
Deal joined the band in 1986 after answering an ad by Black Francis and Joey Santiago. When the band went into hiatus in 1988, Deal formed The Breeders. She was back with The Pixies for their reunion in 2004.
Paz Lenchantin was the bass player for A Perfect Circle with Billy Howerdel, Josh Freese, Troy Van Leeuwen and Maynard James Keenan. She contributed to the albums Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step. She left A Perfect Circle to join Billy Corgan's Zwan with Jimmy Camberlain, Matt Sweeney and David Pajo.
Her next band was the all-girl group The Chelsea with Melissa Auf der Mauf (Hole), Samantha Maloney and Radio Sloan. Paz has also played on Queens of the Stone Age's Songs for the Deaf and Melissa Auf der Maur's solo album.
She now joins The Pixies with Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering. Lovering said, "We are really looking forward to playing with her on these dates. Working with different bass players is very new for the band, but we're having a great time doing it."
Lenchantin will perform her first show with The Pixies in Toronto on January 15, 2014.
