Veteran indie band The Posies bring in members of Broken Social Scene and The Stranglers.
The album will be called Blood/Candy and will be the Washington alt-rock icons' seventh studio effort - the first in five years.
Current touring frontwoman for Canadian supergroup Broken Social Scene Lisa Lobsinger will appear on a track, as will ex-Stranglers frontman Hugh Cornwall.
Lobsinger is a friend of Posies' drummer Darius Minwalla, and the collaboration stemmed out of a wine-drinking session at a Seattle festival.
Posies singer and guitarist Ken Stringfellow said, "She has a very pure voice and for me the track she appears on with me is very bombastic and over the top in a wonderfully melodic way, a bit like a Broadway song."
He said of Cornwall, "It was really cool having Hugh on there because we've never had a British voice on one of our albums."
The twelve-track Blood/Candy is due on September 27 on Rykodisc.
