Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ladytron, The Rakes and The Others have remixed Gang Of Four on the band's new album 'Return The Gift'.
Out on October 10, the second disc of the double LP sees artists and producers such as The Dandy Warhols, Hot Hot Heat and Paul Epworth take on some of the post-punk heroes' best known songs.
“Rather than suggesting the obvious things you may think it was quite interesting to see who popped up and wanted to do it,†Gang Of Four guitarist Andy Gill told NME.COM. “I didn't think Ladytron would do something nor The Dandy Warhols â€" but I really like what they've done â€" I really like it.â€
On the first disc Gang Of Four have re-recorded tracks from their albums ‘Entertainment!', ‘Solid Gold' and ‘Songs Of The Free'.
Gill explained. “I like those records a lot but I don't think they sounded anything like what we sounded like live and that's something we complained about at the time. This does.â€
He added: “There are less overdubs than on the original records which you'd think would be the other way around. My rule for approaching it was to capture performance and not muck around with it too much. Keep it simple.â€
Gang Of Four will release a download and 7†single of the new version of 1981's ‘To Hell With Poverty' on August 22.
The white label 7†will feature the Go Home Productions remix on the flipside.
